Lemon Ginger Morning Tea

Springtime inspires us to clean out excess—in our homes, lives, thoughts and bodies—so that we may enjoy new growth and fresh starts. We energize our daily routines by shifting our diets to lighter, more invigorating foods and tonics. If you don’t yet start your day with warm lemon water, now is the perfect time to begin! Simply combine purified water, fresh lemon and ginger root. This elixir stokes the digestive fire and is believed to support increased circulation, immunity, mental clarity and a wonderful boost in energy.

Ingredients

SERVINGS: 2 Serving(s)
  • 1 organic lemon, reamed, juiced or simply sliced
  • 2-inch piece of fresh organic ginger root, thinly sliced, diced, grated or muddled
  • 3–4 cups of purified water
  • Raw local honey or locally sourced maple syrup to taste (optional)

Preparation

1. Bring water to a boil

2. Turn off heat, add lemon and ginger

3. Let steep for 10 minutes

4. Pour into your favorite mug (straining is optional) and enjoy while it’s warm

Have fun experimenting with these extras:

• A pinch of Himalayan salt

• A dash of freshly ground black or cayenne pepper

• 1⁄8 teaspoon cinnamon or turmeric

• A sprig of fresh herbs (parsley, rosemary, thyme, sage, basil, dandelion)
