Garnishes on cocktails: Adventures in Artistic Mixology

Increasingly, mixologists are setting themselves apart by focusing their attention beyond just the liquid in the glass. Garnishes add visual appeal, enhance the flavor and help to tell the story of the drink. In addition to citrus wheels and cherry skewers, bartenders are using everything from edible flowers and dehydrated fruit to hand-carved ice sculptures, liquid nitrogen and flavored gelatin pearls to create garnishes that are visually stunning as well as delicious.

The glass is a canvas, the bar tools their brushes and the concoctions they create the envy of onlookers at the bar.
