Apple Butter Barbecue Sauce
Apple butter makes an excellent base for a sweet and savory barbecue sauce. Enjoy it on chicken, beef or pork or use it to spice up sides such as potato wedges or cauliflower “steaks.”
Servings 1 1/2 cups
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ¾ cup diced red onion
- 2 cloves garlic, finely diced
- 1 cup apple butter
- ½ cup ketchup
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- Water as needed
Instructions
- Sauté onions and garlic in oil over medium heat in a large saucepan until soft (about 10 minutes). Add remaining ingredients.
